I acknowledge the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I was born, where most of the work on my website was made, and where I currently work. The Kaurna people have been making art and telling stories on this Country for many tens of thousands of years, and continue to do so. I pay my respects to Elders — past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that these lands and waters are of enduring importance to the Kaurna people today. Their sovereignty was never ceded - always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

My name is Emmaline. In recent years I have been exploring concepts of fabrication, memory, labour, and the relationship between the body and the machine through my practice. I completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at Adelaide College of the Arts in 2015, and a Master of Arts - Photography at PSC in Melbourne in 2021. My work has been exhibited in galleries nationally including Stills Gallery (NSW), Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (WA), The Centre for Contemporary Photography (VIC), and the Art Gallery of South Australia, and has been screened at Arles Photography Festival in France. I have been published in the British Journal of Photography, Artlink Australia, VAULT and Suddeustche Zeitung magazine. In 2022 I was selected as the winner of The Churchie Emerging Art Prize. Since 2016, I have been a co-director of South Australian artist collective The Bait Fridge, presenting experimental mixtures of music, performance, sculpture and digital media nationwide with a youth focus. My work has most often been phototgraphy but increasingly I have made performance and video works also. I am much more active on social media than my website, so you can see more of what I am working on via Instagram or email me at emmalinezanelli@yahoo.com.au
